About this proposal
This website is a proposal demo: a working picture of what a new website for the Monadnock Indoor Tennis Club could be. It is not the club's official site, which stays at monadnocktennis.com.
Who made it, and why
Prepared pro bono by Marc Cramer in September 2026, for the club's board and its web volunteer. It is an offer, not a replacement: the club's current website stays its official site while the board decides, and nothing here changes it.
The idea: a public face, and a members' home
The website: the club's public face
Facts, prices and public events for visitors, newcomers and parents, in large type, with "Book a court" on every page.
CourtReserve: the members' home
Members already book courts in CourtReserve, in its app or a web browser, with one account. Members' events, registrations and lessons live there, and later dues, results, the directory and the newsletter. "Member login" on the website simply opens it, so the website needs no members' area of its own.
An MITC icon on your phone
A free home-screen icon opens the website like an app, starting on the Members' guide, one tap from "Book a court". A web app has to start on the club's own site, so it can't open straight into CourtReserve.
What's in this demo
Finished pages: Home, Join MITC, Lessons & Clinics, Events, the Members' guide, Visit & Contact, About the club, a draft Privacy page, and the page the home-screen app shows when there's no signal. Photos and the pro shop are short previews. So is a junior tennis page. It isn't linked from anywhere until the club has a junior program; its address ends in “/juniors”.
What's a sample or a placeholder
- The events are samples, marked "Sample event": the club has not set their dates. Their dates move forward week by week, so the demo always has some to show. On the club's site they would come from CourtReserve and drop off once they're over.
- Prices are the 2025-26 rates as published, labelled as such and "to be confirmed with the board". The 2026-27 rates will come from the board.
- The club pros appear as placeholders until each pro approves a profile.
- The board is listed by name and role, without photos.
- "Book a court" and "Member login" open CourtReserve's general sign-in page until the club's own link is added.
- The contact form sends nothing.
How the demo is kept safe
- It's hidden from search engines and marked "Proposal demo" on every page. Its home-screen icon is called "MITC (demo)".
- It holds no member data and takes no payments.
- It shows no photos of identifiable people: only the club's own photos of its courts and rooms.
What would change, step by step
- Now: this demo. For the board and the club's web volunteer to look at. It costs the club nothing.
- Launch, about 6 to 8 weeks after a yes (estimate). The public website and the home-screen app, the Members' guide, public events from CourtReserve that drop off when they're over, the contact form and the pros' profiles. Members have one login, CourtReserve. Newcomers can apply to join online: a short form goes to the New Member Coordinator, who calls the applicant, so the board keeps its vetting step.
- Phase 2, item by item, from spring 2027. Each item starts only when the club's CourtReserve plan allows it and someone has agreed to look after it:
- paying dues online, in the app by bank transfer or card, or by check;
- one registration system, with payment, for clinics, junior programs and special events (court time stays free for members);
- lessons booked in the app, with each pro who agrees;
- a members' pro shop run in CourtReserve, with pickup at the club;
- members' photos, the newsletter, the directory and results, all inside CourtReserve.
- Later, in 2027. Gift certificates, and the club's history for its 60th year.
Two ways to build it
Path A: a static website, as in this demo
A fast website that's free to host. Editors change prices, notices and the board list through simple forms, signing in with a code sent by email. It costs about $20 a year, for the domain name, and the home-screen app works in full, including the offline page.
Needs: accounts owned by the club, and a named technical backup.
Path B: the same design in Squarespace
The design rebuilt in Squarespace, the website service the club uses today, by the club's web volunteer. It costs about $370 a year. The home-screen icon works, but without the offline page.
Needs: nothing beyond today's setup.
The pages, the CourtReserve links and the phases are the same on both paths. If path A's two conditions aren't met, path B is the choice.
Tools and logins
About as many tools as today, and one login for members instead of two.
| What | Today | Path A | Path B |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logins for members | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Tools the board uses | 5 | 4 at launch; 5 once online payments start | 4 at launch; 5 once online payments start |
| Accounts the club owns and secures, each with two administrators | 5 | 7 at launch; 8 once online payments start | 4 at launch; 5 once online payments start |
- Today: Squarespace, Sentry Login (the members' area), CourtReserve, the club's Google account and Facebook.
- At launch: CourtReserve, the website editor (Squarespace on path B), the club's Google account and Facebook.
- From phase 2: the treasurer also runs a payment account for CourtReserve (Stripe or SafeSave). That's the fifth tool on both paths.
- Path A's extra accounts are technical: code storage (GitHub), hosting (Cloudflare), form email (Resend) and the domain name.
Running costs per year (estimated)
| Item | Today (estimated) | Path A | Path B |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website service | ~$348 | $0 | ~$348 |
| Members' login add-on | ~$59 | $0 (retired) | $0 (retired) |
| Domain name | ~$20 | ~$20 | ~$20 |
| Website subtotal | ~$430 | ~$20 | ~$370 |
| CourtReserve, current plan (the club's figure) | ~$1,500 | ~$1,500 | ~$1,500 |
| Total at launch | ~$1,930 | ~$1,520 | ~$1,870 |
| Once online payments start, on CourtReserve's Launch plan ($1,908) | not applicable | ~$1,928 | ~$2,278 |
- Estimates, from list prices seen online on September 26, 2026, and the club's own figure for CourtReserve, not from bills.
- Online payments (paid registrations, dues, the shop) probably need CourtReserve's Launch plan, about $400 a year more than the club's current plan (estimate). On path A, the website saving roughly covers it.
- Payment fees: about $50 by card on a $1,700 payment, or $5 to $13 by bank transfer. Paying by check stays possible.
- Keep CourtReserve. No cheaper club system we checked offers members' personal calendar feeds.
The club's own app
There are three ways to put the club on members' phones.
| What | A custom-built app | CourtReserve's app under the club's name | The MITC home-screen icon (this demo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| What members get | An app with the club's name, but the club would have to build booking, calendars, email, payments, logins and security itself | The CourtReserve app members already use, with the club's name and logo in both app stores | The club's icon on the home screen; the website opens like an app, and "Book a court" opens CourtReserve |
| Cost | Tens of thousands of dollars to build, or hundreds of volunteer hours (estimate), plus app-store fees: $99 a year for Apple, $25 once for Google | CourtReserve's Momentum plan: $5,988 a year, plus a $499 setup fee and a one-year contract. About $4,488 a year more than today | About $0: part of the website |
| Upkeep | Yearly updates for iPhone and Android, store reviews and security, usually resting on one volunteer | None for the club | None |
| Recommended? | No | No: it roughly quadruples the software bill, mainly for the club's name in the app stores | Yes, and it's built into this demo |
Have a look around
Start on the home page, or open the Members' guide to see what the home-screen app shows first.
